About the band... The Boston Post formed in Bragg Creek, Alberta Canada, in November 2001, when vocalist/guitarist Scott Moffatt and drummer Shawn Everett met and decided to put a band together. Not able to have a band with just two people, the guys brought in guitarist Jon Gant and bassist Neal Gupta to round off the bands unique appearance and sound. The band recorded their first album together, from December 2001 through December 2002 at the Banff Centre of the Performing Arts (in Banff, Alberta Canada), entitled It's 99 PM. The album, also being used as the bands demo, contained 6 tracks, and was released on January 7, 2003. The same day as their first publicly announced concert at Club Phoenix London, in London, Ontario Canada. Their first single, Feel Me Out, was released to London, Ontario radio stations to promote the album and concerts, which were soon to come, on Monday, December 9th of 2002!

The first official gig for the newly conceived 'The Boston Post' was December 16, 2002, at Scott's family-owned restaurant, El Gringo's Restaurant & Lounge. This was the bands first public gig as a whole, and contained a small, 6-song, set-list. Many local gigs soon followed, including two shows at a strip-bar in Golden, B.C., called the Roadhouse Tavern, and a New Years show at El Gringo's on New Years Eve 2002. The New Year's Eve concert at El Gringo's was to a small, intimate audience of only 45 people.

About The Video..The concert footage was shot using a Sony TRV25 Handycamera and the Interview was shot on a Canon XL1s. The footage at the concert wasn't intended to be shown on the site, but after reviewing the footage from the small camera, we decided hey, it's pretty cool, let's put it up anyways! Shawn Everett happened by Niagara Fall to see Gardiner play his first concert so we took the opportunity to show him the footage we had much to his liking. So if Shawn likes it, hopefully you the fans will too.

Well, where do I start…. Let’s talk about the little trip Steve Gardiner and I made to go see Boston Post. It all happened one funky weather day in January, the 7th to be exact. I was running late trying to get organized to go pick up Steve G. and finally showed up at his place around 2:30PM. We drove for what seemed like forever along HWY 7 when Gardiner pipes up that he wants to see more lanes, where the heck are we… So off we head along back roads till we get to Kingston where we finally joined up with the 401. Ok… About 2 hours into driving Steve wants to switch and it’s my time to drive the Canadian Spotlight van…. Well the fun never stops for this guy cause we just had to have a complete white out!!!! Snow blowing and gusting from all directions, wipers on full tilt… what lines, I can’t see no freaking lines…Trucks to the left of me, transport trailers to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with YOU! @$&**!!!! Just kidding, Steve and I made quite the tag driver / navigator team…(mostly). Well we are just outside of Ajax and Steve wants to help out by driving another stint… wouldn’t you know it… the Damn Sun always shines for wunderkind, not one flake, Nada!!! I suck it up taking the many jibes from Gardiner over my plight Ha… ha! So now we switch again outside of Guelph and WHAM!!!! The damn snow squall!!!! I tell ya!!! But it did manage to letup by London. So,,, Now in London, Steve and I are following Steve’s manager (Scott’s) directions to get to the club. You gotta know that our eyes are peeled to every street sign we come across (making sure to turn left at this particular street and past another…), one of which was Baseline. At the intersection we were at, one side said Baselne (all one word) and on the other side it said Base Line (two separate words…WTF??) Steve and I were very tired (eight and some hours of driving) and started speaking in British accents the moment we saw this we sat there and pissed ourselves laughing saying (In British phonetics’) “Yew must come see us at the PeeOnix we’re playing thar tonight it’s on Bass-a-leeeeeeen street” you can catch a sample of Steve reminiscing about this in his Unplugged clip…. You had to be there… So we finally show up at the club happy as piss with ourselves for having found it, and walk in with arm full each of equipment and head through the club to find Scott Zimmerman (Manager) and his office… We waste no time putting the equipment down and B-Line it to the bar for a stiff drinks… several Rye and cokes and Caesars later we are going through the club checking it out (see the Pheonix virtual tour) and Steve and I are both agreeing with what we were looking at, in a word… was...wow! What a fantastic space, great sightlines, love the projection screens and the multi camera setup…this place is for sake of anything, is very interesting.. hmmm! So we start checking out the opening bands soaking in how it the sound works in this new place and I gotta tell ya, pretty damn good!

Show review and more...
The club was teaming with a mix of age and hormones, the drinks were fast to go down and the atmosphere was filled with anticipation. What was being anticipated? The performance of a once Moffatt with a new look, sound and band. I have to admit that the Moffatts were artists I would catch the odd time on Much Music or in an entertainment segment in newsprint or on TV. So what I experienced was I am sure is completely different than that of a die-hard Moffatt fan. Scott’s new sound was more my style and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the music that he made that night. As for his fan’s, I think some of them were a little taken back at first, but the enthusiasm for the show overrode any emotions that may have been evoked as a result of being introduced to something completely new to them. What I would describe as the new Dock Martin experience, you know where your old pair of Docks wears out and you toss them when buying a new pair of Dock’s but even though you know it’s going to be good footwear, there is still that breaking in period. I feel Scott has a lot more up his sleeve talent wise, and I am sure he has a level of wanting to horn a style that is more personalized and less Pop commercialized. With the confidence and poise of someone who has been in the business for years, Scott and his band delivered an ear candy performance that still has me humming their signature tune “Likewise”. After the performance, Steve and I had some fun backstage with some people who were in the other bands or who were “Producers” this made for some interesting footage, which you can view in the “Other video”. We basically didn’t leave the club until the very last moment it was open, following Scott and his assistant through the streets of London in search for our Hotel. Had I known what hotel it was we would have left earlier as I had stayed there before! So Steve and I check in and head to our room, which we find out, is right beside some of the Fans we met at the show. The girls are quite young and are traveling together enjoying their youth and doing a write up for their web site. Steve and I talk for a bit with them before turning in to watch a DVD, well 10 minutes of it before we crash hard! I woke up early and headed down to get some breakfast for Steve and I and later meet up with Scott Zimmerman and Frank Moffatt who we drive to the club. When we get there Scott is convinced that someone has stolen his Mercedes, well hell breaks loose as he tries to get to the bottom of it, turns out the guys running the club played a joke on Scott and had it towed. Scott was not too impressed, oh well.. “Things always happen to Zimmerman” By the way, Frank Moffatt (Scotts dad) is quite humorous!! So we finally get into the club and get the chance to interview the boys before Steve and I drive back to Ottawa. I tell you except for the Snow Storm heading to London and back to Ottawa and the fact we forgot the camera case in Scotts office, which took two months to get back, ahhhHHHH!!!! We had a pretty damn good time!!!
